Koyoharu Gotoge wrote and illustrated the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 2016 to May 2020. It ended with a total of 23 compilation volumes.
The anime adaptation by ufotable began with a 26-episode Season 1, which aired from April to September 2019. Following its huge success, the sequel movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train followed in October 2020 and arguably began the entire anime movie boom.
The movie was then re-edited and shown as part of the 18-episode Season 2, which aired from October 2021 to February 2022. The 11-episode Season 3 aired from April to June 2023, while Season 4 aired from May to June 2024 and set the stage for the endgame.
The Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy is now in production, with the first movie set to premiere in 2025. When Will International Fans See the Film?
With a July 18, 2025, release date confirmed for Japan, international fans can expect a staggered rollout in various territories. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are handling global distribution, meaning overseas audiences may get their chance to see the film in theaters later in 2025. If the Mugen Train and Swordsmith Village theatrical releases are any indication, North American and European fans could see Infinity Castle arrive in late summer or early fall. The CineStar listing for September 25 may also be an indicator of when Western audiences can expect to watch the film on the big screen.
