Crayon Shin-chan’s Dad Hiroshi Nohara’s Spin-Off Manga Gets Anime Adaptation

Crayon Shin-chan‘s spin-off manga Nohara Hiroshi: Hiromeshi no Ryugi (The Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch) is getting an anime adaptation. It will focus on Shin-chan’s dad’s passion about food, with studio DLE handling the animation. The anime will premiere in October 2025.

Hiroshi Nohara will be voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa (Minato Namikaze in NarutoPaul Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation), while the main staff includes:

Crayon Shin-chan is a Japanese manga series created by Yoshito Usui, first appearing in Weekly Manga Action in 1990. Following Usui’s passing in 2009, the original manga ended, but a continuation by his team, New Crayon Shin-chanbegan in 2010 and has published 14 volumes as of August 2024. The anime adaptation debuted on TV Asahi in 1992 and remains ongoing, surpassing 1,267 episodes. Dubbed in 30 languages and aired in 45 countries, the series has sold over 148 million copies as of 2023, ranking among the best-selling manga of all time.

The spin-off series, Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryugi (The Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch), written and illustrated by Yoichi Tsukahara, shifts the focus to Shin-chan’s father, Hiroshi Nohara. Serialized in Manga Town from 2015 to 2023 before transitioning online in 2024, the series explores Hiroshi’s passion for the perfect lunch, highlighting his meticulous meal choices and appreciation for food culture. The series has released 13 volumes as of March 13, 2025, which is when the anime was announced.
