Voice Cast Comments
Mikako Komatsu as Hitomi Kisugi
The legendary Cat’s❤︎Eye is getting a brand-new anime adaptation…!! I wasn’t part of the real-time generation, but I’ve always known about the series, and the theme song is so iconic that I can hum it from memory. The new Cat’s Eye stays true to its romantic comedy roots while featuring heists and action scenes that reflect modern times. I hope everyone falls in love with the Kisugi sisters all over again in the Reiwa era!
Ami Koshimizu as Rui Kisugi
I’m honored yet also feeling the pressure of playing Rui. I grew up watching the reruns of Cat’s Eye as a child, admiring how cool the trio was and enjoying Toshio’s comical side. I will do my best to bring her to life in a way that fits the new adaptation while staying true to the original.
Yumiri Hanamori as Ai Kisugi
I remember my mom singing Cat’s Eye when I was little. I never imagined that I would one day become one of the ‘mysterious girls’ myself! Ai is playful, agile, and impossible to ignore—I’ll do my best to bring her to life.
Takuya Sato as Toshio Utsumi
Growing up, Cat’s❤︎Eye was always around, but as a kid, I saw it as a ‘mature’ manga meant for older readers. When I later watched the anime, I loved its mix of sexiness, style, and humor. And now, I can’t believe I get to be the one chasing after Cat’s Eye, shouting, ‘Stop, Cat’s!’ The recording sessions are filled with love and respect for the series. I hope long-time fans and new viewers alike will enjoy this fresh take on Cat’s❤︎Eye!
About Cat’s Eye
Tsukasa Hojo wrote and illustrated the Cat’s Eye manga, which is stylized as CAT’S♥EYE. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1981 to 1985, with a total of 18 compiled volumes. Its original TV anime was animated by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now TMS Entertainment), and it aired for two seasons between 1983 and 1985. It ended with a total of 73 episodes. Tsukasa Hojo previously commented on the new anime:
It’s incredible that Cat’s Eye is being made into a new anime series after 40 years!
This series was my debut work, so there were undoubtedly many rough edges. Even so, in recent years, I’ve received offers to use the work from overseas, which has made me realize once again that there are still people out there in the world who care about this series.
When I heard about this new anime adaptation, I was honestly surprised. But above all, I’m deeply grateful to the fans who have supported the series for so many years.
I’m a bit nervous about how the younger generation will perceive this work, but I sincerely hope they will enjoy watching it.
Besides the TV anime, the series also got three live-action adaptations. The latest one was the French Cat’s Eyes TV series, which was created by Michel Catz and produced by Big Band Story for TF1 and Amazon Prime Video. It began streaming this year. Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat’s Eye cross-over anime was animated by TMS Entertainment and premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2023.
The story follows the three sisters, Hitomi, Rui and Ai Kisugi. They run a café called “Cat’s Eye”e in Tokyo, but they also lead a double life as art thieves, stealing works of art which belonged to their long-lost father, Michael Heinz.
Some other anime coming to Disney+ this year include Disney Twisted-Wonderland, BULLET/BULLET and WANDANCEas well as Star Wars Visions Volume 3.
