
Rengoku Sets His Heart Ablaze Again in New Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Revival Screening Trailer
The 2020 movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train got a new revival screening trailer ahead of its return to theaters in Japan on May 9, 2025. This will be the first theatrical re-release of the film since its original run, after which it became the highest-grossing anime movie of all time worldwide.

Revival Screening Goes With Technical Enhancements
For this screening, the movie has been up-converted to 4K resolution, and both the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Cinema audio have been remixed. The movie will be available in multiple premium formats, including:
- IMAX® – Large-format screening
- Dolby Atmos & Dolby Cinema – Enhanced surround sound
- 4DX & MX4D – Motion-synchronized seating and environmental effects
The film will be screened for five weeks in 423 theaters across Japan, including 370 standard screenings and 53 IMAX screenings. You can check out the new trailer for the revival screening below.

Kimetsu Theater Screening Event
This screening is part of the Kimetsu Theater – Demon Slayer Special Compilation Screeningwhich will begin on April 4, 2025. The event will feature weekly limited screenings of the main anime arcs, covering the story from Unwavering Resolve Arc through the Hashira Training Arc.
The Mugen Train revival precedes the release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castlethe first movie in the upcoming Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy. It revealed a new visual and the first look at the 2025 promotion reel, with the release date set for July 18, 2025. You can read more details on Infinity Castle here.
Demon Slayer Background
Koyoharu Gotoge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, concluding with 23 volumes.
The anime adaptation, produced by ufotable, premiered in 2019. Its first theatrical movie, Mugen Trainreleased in 2020, and overtook Spirited Away and Your Name the highest-grossing anime movie of all time. It was also re-edited into episodes for TV broadcast, which are now streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix as the Mugen Train Arc.
The TV anime seasons of the anime included:
- Season 2 (2021-2022) – Entertainment District Arc
- Season 3 (2023) – Swordsmith Village Arc
- Season 4 (2024) – Hashira Training Arc
The franchise’s next major anime installment, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castleis scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025.
