The Apothecary Diaries and Universal Studios Japan are teaming up to create an attraction inspired by the anime. The collaboration will be available for a limited time from July 1st to January 4th, 2026. It will allow fans to immerse themselves in a “super-realistic experience” of the vibrant world of The Apothecary Diariestogether with the main characters Maomao and Jinshi.

Information on the special attraction, menu, and merchandise will be revealed at a later date. Meanwhile, special teaser visuals of Maomao and Jinshi were also released:

This event was announced as the second installment of “Universal Cool Japan 2025,” which is currently commemorating its 10th anniversary. Universal Studio Japan’s “Cool Japan” initiative features limited-time themed attractions themed around iconic Japanese anime, manga, video games, and pop culture. Previous events have featured titles like Super Nintendo World, Demon Slayer, Detective Conan, Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece.

The Apothecary Diaries is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. The series was also adapted into a manga series by Nekokurage and another by Minoji Kurata. Meanwhile, TOHO Animation Studio and OML animated the first season of The Apothecary Diaries in 2023. The second season is currently ongoing, which Crunchyroll describes:

When a favored concubine becomes pregnant, Maomao is put to the test as her food taster. She must keep her wits sharp, not only to protect the concubine but also against rising dangers in the palace.
