Nintendo Announces The Duskbloods, New Game by Dark Souls & Elden Ring Developer FromSoftware
Nintendo announced The Duskbloods, a new game by FromSoftware, coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. This comes immediately after many new announcements from the console’s first direct, including a new The Legend of Zelda game.
FromSoftware is widely regarded as one of the most influential studios in modern game design, known for their challenging combat systems, deep lore, and world-building. Titles like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring have large critical acclaim and commercial success, with Elden Ring winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022 and selling over 20 million copies worldwide.
Their partnership with Nintendo for The Duskbloods is also notable, especially since FromSoftware has rarely released titles on Nintendo platforms. The collaboration suggests a shift in strategy for both companies, with the Switch 2 seemingly positioned to support more graphically demanding titles. It was also announced that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will arrive to the new console.
The Duskbloods was one of several headline announcements in the Nintendo Direct, which also featured the brand-new time-travel The Legend of Zelda game and updates to numerous major franchises. The presentation was a strong debut for the Switch 2, showcasing its upgraded capabilities and broader third-party support. You can see our full recap of its first direct for more updates.
