Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Movie Previews Opening Song in Special New Trailer

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: The Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved anime movie revealed a special new trailer previewing the opening theme song by fhána. The anime is set to premiere in Japan on June 27.

The artist commented on the performance:
At last, the long-awaited continuation of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is coming as a theatrical film!
We at fhána poured our hearts into creating this song.
It turned out to be a track that’s endlessly fun and deeply emotional.
We hope that “Parade of Tears” will be loved for a long time, together with the movie.

The main trailer recently previewed the ending song “Our Days” by Sachiko Kobayashi, while you can watch the new one below.

Shiori Suigura was previously announced to be replacing Tomomi Mineuchi as Ilulu. The latest voice cast additions include:

  • Fumihiko Tachiki ascales
  • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Azad

They were shown in the new visual at the recent AnimeJapan 2025 event, and you can see that below.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a popular manga series written and illustrated by Coolkyousinnjya. The series began serialization in 2013 and originally ran in Monthly Actiona manga magazine published by Futabasha. Following the magazine’s discontinuation in 2024, the series transitioned to Manga Action. Over the years, the manga has inspired multiple spin-offs, including Kanna’s Daily Life, Elma’s Office Lady Diary, Lucoa is My XXand Fafn the Recuseall of which were serialized in Monthly Action before moving to Web Action.

A video game titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon Breath was released in Japan in March 2022, while Aksys Games released it in North America in August 2022.

Kyoto Animation adapted Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid into an anime in 2017, with Yasuhiro Takemoto serving as director. Tragically, Takemoto passed away in the 2019 arson attack on Kyoto Animation, a devastating event that impacted the anime industry worldwide.

Despite the loss, Kyoto Animation honored Takemoto’s legacy by continuing the adaptation. The second season, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Saired in 2021 with Tatsuya Ishihara directing, while Takemoto was credited posthumously. The second season was as the Best Anime of the Season for Summer 2021.
