Anime Details
Azur Lane: Slow Ahead (stylized as Azur Lane: Slow Ahead!) adapts the Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin! 4-koma manga by Hori. Ichijinsha’s Manga 4-but palette has published the manga since March 2018.
Studio CANDY BOX and Yostar Pictures produced the anime’s first season in 2021. The anime aired as part of the 2021 winter anime season.
Released in 2017, Azur Lane started as a side-scrolling shooter mobile game featuring anthropomorphized ship girls based on WWII vessels. Since then, the franchise has exploded and now boasts several manga, a fall 2020 anime by Bibury Animation Studios, several OVAs, loads of merch, and frequent censorship clashes.
Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! It takes a far less serious approach to its plot when compared to its predecessor. A certified CGDCT show, Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin! embraces the slice-of-life ethos of buggering about without a care in the world. There are no grand fights against opposing factions and otherworldly entities in this anime — it’s just kawaii ship girls enjoying life.
